POST-A-WEEK: BATTLESTAR

Battlestar Galactica

I am watching Battlestar Galactica for the first time and I must say that it has some of the best moments I have experienced through TV. So far, the series is headed in a direction that I love and hopefully it will continue so till the final episode. Right now I am watching a friend's DVDs but I plan on buying my own when things get better.

POST-A-WEEK: BYE BYE SUCKER

Lair

A few days ago, I sold four games from my PS3 collection. Why? Because I needed some cash for an item that I intend to buy next month and that was the only used games market we have here.

Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom

None of the shops was interested in buying XBOX 360 games or any of the other systems.

Armored Core for Answer

I started with games that didn't support trophies that I finished and was done with (The Force Unleashed, Lair and Dark Kingdom) or I lost interest in (Armored Core for Answer).

Lumines

I only sold one game before: Lumines on PSP.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

My visit to the used games market opened my eyes to the reality that I can no longer afford to buy brand new games every time. It may take some time getting used to, but I'll wait till non-AAA titles are available in the cost effective, customer friendly used games market.

Ghostbusters

There will be more games to sell or exchange (I am looking at you Ghostbusters).

POST-A-WEEK: TWO IN ONE

This week will host a special two posts in one. Let's start with the good one.

The pendulum swung in Mark Webber's favor during the German Grand Prix in Nurburgring as the Australian driver of Red Bull's F1 team charged to a maiden victory despite a drive-through penalty.

Jenson Button missed his second podium this season and I hope he will be back on top next time; I already miss seeing the white car up front.

This week's second post is titled The Day of Betrayal.

Today marks a one year anniversary of the announcement of Final Fantasy XIII on XBOX 360. It was during Microsoft's pre E3 conference that Square Enix put a knife in my back and twisted it. The knife is still there. This announcement had further implications other than the exclusivity issue, aside from the fact that Microsoft still holds exclusivity on other SE games like Star Ocean: The Last Hope, Infinite Undiscovery and The Last Remnant.

RROD

It meant that my favorite video game series, rivaled only by Kojima's brilliant Metal Gear Solid series, was delayed as work on the XBOX 360 version had yet to begin, despite the fact that it didn't have a release date to begin with. This was not the only impact of this announcement. It was also the reason why the English version of the breathtaking Advent Children Complete did not include a demo for the game like its Japanese release because a demo for the 360 version could not be completed on time.

Furthermore, the English release of the game itself probably won't include Japanese voice over since that would be a problem to fit in the 360's limited disc space, unlike PS3's blu-ray format, which could house both English and Japanese audio. These are only a sample of what is known so far and I see more trouble headed towards a cursed XIII. Luckily, despite all this shenanigan, the game is shaping up to be a great experience.

POST-A-WEEK: THE FORCE

Yesterday, I started playing The Force Unleashed on my PS3. Despiste all the frustration, I continued playing till I reached the last mission, which I should complete this weekend. The game got me excited about the inevitable release of Star Wars movies on blu-ray (all six of them). I even purchased Yoda for SoulCalibur IV, though I have yet to try him. Just looking at the picture above is enough to draw a smile on my face. I guess I'll just give in and watch Clone Wars while waiting.

May the Force be with you.
